The First Thing

... I thought of when I woke up this morning was a wedding dress. I couldn't remember where I saw it and I roamed the internet looking for it. I ended up, very surprisingly, musing on my dream wedding.

{It would be a country wedding}

{Near a barn and a small chapel}

{We would ride in some old-fashioned style}

{It would be sweet and cozy and playfully romantic}

{And, The Dress}

So, that's what I was on the hunt for. That dress. I must must must be thinking about it because of the exposure of wedding dresses (Kate, Lily, Kate) because, up until recently, I was against the idea of it for myself. A marriage, that is to say.

My parents weren't married, my sister is in a civil union, I've just grown up around people that think it's become superfluous and maybe even an obsolete and dying institution. (To be specific, the stats in Quebec are quite remarkable compared to the rest of Canada.) I, however, am torn. I am such a romantic and love the idea of being monogamous with the same person until death do us part, but I'm also a realist and think that that notion can be a great disservice to many husbands, wives and children and in many cases to the detriment of ones happiness. (Blah, blah, blah...) Anyway, it's a source of some internal debate. I have time to mull it over - I'm currently unattached, so...

Also, Yay! I've just reached the 100 follower benchmark! That's really cool. Thanks y'all! x

  1. I'm going to put in a vote for marriage. Yes, when it's bad it's really bad, but when it's good- oh, when it's good- it's a beautiful thing. Don't let go of your romantic notions, they were put there for a reason. But that's just my opinion! <3

  2. I'm with you on that whole inner torment. I'm a complete romantic and I love the idea of weddings (in reality I hate attending them, find them terribly boring) - the romance, the commitment. On the other hand the realist in me wonders why one can't have that in an unmarried relationship (possibly encouraged by my lack of religion and jaded by working within the events industry) - if you aren't sure of that the contents of your married vows would be upheld prior to marriage, why is it so sure they will after? Although I always say that if a partner found marriage important I'd be fine with that too. But most of all, I just think everyone should do (and have the right to do) what feels right for them, without judgement.

    On a lighter note, I am in love with the Kate Moss' wedding dress - it was just perfection! And that's the first I've seen of Lily's wedding and I am now also in love with her ceremony dress!

  3. I love this post and I have to say, I'm pretty sure I feel the exact same way you do and you said it very well! I'm realistic as well but I'm definitely looking for *everlasting love!!* haha great post, thanks for sharing and that last dress is just gorgeous!!!

  4. I'm not really into wedding things, but I must admit that the dress on the last picture is pretty cool
